Vidyalaya celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August, 2025 to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand in collaboration with Coal India Ltd, Margherita. The programme began with Mangalacharan. Hindi speeches on Major Dhyan Chand were delivered by four students of Class VI, highlighting his life, achievements, and contribution to Indian hockey. Following this, Smt. Mamon Choudhury, teacher, addressed the gathering with a motivating speech on the life of Major Dhyanchand. Four students of Classes XI and X presented a PowerPoint, providing detailed insights into the life and achievements of Dhyanchand. The programme further continued with the Oath Taking Ceremony, led by Jia Sharma of Class X, wherein all students pledged to uphold the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. Afterwards, a Pushpanjali was offered by all as a mark of respect, followed by the chanting of Shantipath, bringing the programme to a solemn and peaceful conclusion. After lunch break friendly volleyball matches were played between the girls of Class XI and XII and the boys of Class XI and XII. The entire celebration not only paid tribute to Major Dhyan Chand but also motivated the students to imbibe the true spirit of sports and physical well-being in their lives.
